Weekly Tenerife update 28th June
🔴 Flights to Tenerife resume, Quarantine set to be lifted in the UK:
Spain´s borders are open, Brits can and have already begun flying to Tenerife. There is no requirement for quarantine upon arrival. International, national and inter-island flights began last week and the first tourists are back – albeit in much lower numbers than we are used to seeing.
Temperature checks are carried out and you are required to fill out a contact form. confirming where you are staying.
The UK Government has confirmed that the requirement to self-isolate for 14 days when returning to the UK will be scrapped for trips to Spain. There will be a “red, amber, green” system in place for various locations and the FCO are set to lift their “caution against all but essential travel” in the coming days.
🔴 I Love Tenerife group – Hotels and Package Holidays
We are hoping to be able to offer group members a full selection and range of hotel deals and package holidays very soon.
We are just putting the finishing touches to how this will work for members and how we can add value to the whole booking process – from searching all of the different tour operators at once, to taking the pain out of the paperwork and bureaucracy. This will be completely free to group members and will be a personalised holiday service.
If all goes as expected, very soon we will be able to help you find and book your perfect holiday with Jet2, TUI, EasyJet and many other tour operators, as well as having some of our own exclusives.
These will all be fully regulated and protected.
This was a project that was started before the entire tourist industry was shut down so I’m pleased to be almost back to where we were before the lockdown and should have some news for you all on this very soon.
Updates will be posted as I have them!

🔴 Whats now open in Tenerife?
Restaurants and bars are now open both inside and out with social distancing rules in effect but for all intents and purposes, going to a bar now is very normal. You don’t need to wear masks when you are there. Many are still closed due to there being no tourists here at the moment. I expect that many more will begin reopening in the coming weeks.
No word yet Siam Park, Jungle Park, Loro Park etc, as to when they will open yet.
Beaches are open and quite busy. Swimming pools in hotels and complexes are now opening. Shopping centres are now open.
🔴 Face Masks in Tenerife
Lots of daft stories doing the rounds now about face masks. You can leave your accommodation without your face mask, Walk to a bar or restaurant without your facemask. Sit down, order a drink order a meal etc without your facemask. When you are finished you can leave the restaurant and walk somewhere else without your facemask….
You DO NOT need to wear a Face Mask when:
Day to day when you are walking around outside – in the street, on the promenade
At the beach etc
When you are sat in a bar or restaurant, the terrace with your friends, in a group of up to 20 people – drinking / eating etc
You SHOULD wear a Face Mask when:
You go into a shop, a pharmacy, the post office, petrol station etc
If you are anywhere outside and you cannot keep a distance of 1.5m to 2m from other people who you are not with
You are using public transport
You are supposed to carry one with you at all times in case you need to put it on.
🔴 Coronavirus cases in Tenerife:
There have been 1503 confirmed cases in total in Tenerife (up by just 1 from last week, 4 over the past two weeks) and there are currently 15 active cases on the island.
Looking just at the South of Tenerife, there have been 122 cases in total and there are just 2 active cases at the moment in the South.
There have been 110 deaths in total in Tenerife, no new deaths now for several weeks.
🔴 UK situation update
The numbers continue to fall in the UK, with another 22% fall week on week in the death rate. And the same trend is seen with the Daily number of lab-confirmed cases in England by specimen date
There have been no spikes so far even with the large gatherings we have seen which is very positive – lets hope this trend continues. But be aware, the press are desperate to print big, negative headlines… if there is any rise – no matter how small or temporary, it will be seized upon and splashed all over the front pages. Don´t panic if this happens. We sit back, zoom out and look at the overall trends. Clusters of infections will happen, it is nothing to get hysterical about and is to be expected. These kinds of diseases do not go away / disappear, they are suppressed as much as possible and we need to learn to live with them.
It’s that time of year again 🤣
Ouch...early bath 😂🙈😂 #paddyokellys #bigbrotherswatching #irishbar #tenerife #ouch #phahaha #guinness

This is brilliant news for the canary islands 👏👏👏👏🍻😃

For those of you concerned about the spread of Covid 19 on aircraft once we start flying again, here is a piece from the British Airline Pilots Association:
Dispelling the myths around aircraft cabin air
It is a common misconception amongst passengers that when on board a flight, they are all sharing 'stale air'. At this time, with coronavirus a real fear amongst the public, it is more important than ever to challenge that misconception and help the public understand the way cabin air works.
Where does the air come from and how does it flow?
Cabin air is a mix of fresh air drawn from outside of the aircraft (treated prior to entering the cabin so that it is at a pressure and temperature comfortable for breathing) and existing cabin air that has been recycled through extremely efficient filters (known as High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters) that are capable of trapping microscopic-sized particles such as SARS-Cov-2 (the novel coronavirus which causes Covid-19). Tests have shown HEPA filters to have an efficiency level of better than 99.99% and they provide air that meets the standards set for hospital operating theatres. In normal operation, less than half of the air is filtered and recirculated, the rest is fresh air drawn in from outside the aircraft.
Air supplied to the cabin enters at the level of the overhead compartments (from above and below them) and is extracted at floor level. This means that the air is drawn down and, importantly, there is no flow forward or aft along the cabin. Air supplied to aircraft toilets, galleys and cargo-holds is not filtered, but instead is dumped directly overboard. The cabin air in a typical airliner aircraft such as an Airbus A320 is completely changed, on average, every three minutes, which compares to every 10-12 minutes in a typical air-conditioned building.

🇬🇧 With many of our friends and loyal customers asking, or waiting to hear when we will re-open, we would like to let you all know our current situation.
At the moment, we are not planning to open any of our establishments during this current phase 1. We are working very hard behind the scenes to be 100% prepared to re-open, with all new protocols in place. Including training of the highest standard for all new practices, including disinfecting and social distancing as per the recommendations given by the government in the fight to alleviate COVID-19.
Our main aim is to ensure the health, safety and peace of mind of all of our staff and customers.
We are excited to announce we are planning to open Finca Tres Roques in the first week of Phase 2 of the de-escalation process!
We believe this will be the perfect establishment to put into place all the new health & safety measures.
We cannot wait to re-open our doors to you, but will only do so once we feel it is 100% safe for everybody involved. We will advise you as soon as we have any further information or developments regarding the opening of any of our other establishments.
Thank you as always for all your support, especially throughout this very difficult time.
