BREAKING: Lapse in Appropriations Notice - the SBA is unable to accept new applications at this time for the Paycheck Protection Program or the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL)-COVID-19 related assistance program (including EIDL Advances) based on available appropriations funding. EIDL applicants who have already submitted their applications will continue to be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. The Harford Chamber is currently urging with federal and state entities for additional funding and assistance to be released.
Governor Larry Hogan
Today I enacted an executive order which will require the wearing of masks or face coverings when inside any retail establishments, including grocery stores, pharmacies, and convenience stores, or when riding any form of public transportation in Maryland.
It also requires all essential retail locations to require their staff to wear face coverings, and requires those businesses to put appropriate social distancing measures in place in order to keep customers and their staff safe.
To give these retailers time to make these adjustments, the order will go into effect beginning Saturday, April 18, at 7 a.m.
While this order is an important step in our immediate efforts to protect public health and safety, the wearing of masks is also something that we may all have to become more accustomed to in order to safely reopen our state.
The CDC has issued detailed guidance regarding how you can make and use homemade cloth face coverings: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/diy-cloth-face-coverings.html

A beautiful site in Aberdeen. As the world is in a state of chaos, there is a sense of calm with the flags waving. We will make it through this as one united country and world.
Stay safe everyone. Miss you all.
The deadline for the Chamber's Annual Scholarship has been extended to June 1st. This is open to graduating seniors who live in or attend the Aberdeen High School district (magnet and private school students are eligible). Pictured is our recipient from 2019, Kiana Mack.
The City of Aberdeen has been hard at work creating a central hub of information for local businesses suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic. Governor Larry Hogan
This morning, I enacted an executive order which institutes a Stay at Home directive. No Maryland resident should be leaving their home unless it is for an essential job or for an essential reason, such as obtaining food or medicine, seeking urgent medical attention, or for other necessary purposes.
In addition, only essential businesses are allowed to remain open in Maryland, and those businesses must make every effort to scale down their operations in order to reduce the number of required staff, to limit interactions with customers, and to institute telework for as much of the workforce as is practical.
As we have previously stated, no Marylander should be traveling outside of the state unless such travel is absolutely necessary. If you have traveled outside of the state, you should self-quarantine for 14 days.
This is a deadly public health crisis. We are no longer asking or suggesting that Marylanders stay home—we are directing them to do so. This executive order will become effective at 8:00 PM tonight.

Tired of your own home cookin'? Over 30 Aberdeen's restaurants still have their doors open for pick up, carry out or deliveries. They are all just a phone call away. And to help reinforce this, the City partnered with Mr. Steve Horne of Horne Concrete Construction LLC here in Aberdeen to place a large electronic sign on SR22 reminding us all that, in these challenging times, you still can have a great meal while supporting local establishments and jobs. Many, many thanks Steve!
And for those who may not be hungry right now, you can still support most of these restaurants through a gift card. What a great way to hint to Grandma or Grandpa that they ought to let someone else do the cooking. For a listing of Aberdeen food establishments open to pickup or delivery click on the below:

TASTE OF CHEER - UPDATE:
With the recent developments regarding Coronavirus and the changes occurring on a daily basis, the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce is taking this situation very serious and have rescheduled the Annual Taste of Cheer at Ripken Stadium for Friday, October 2nd.
[03/13/20] We are sorry to inform you that our March 24 luncheon is being cancelled due to the current situation involving the Coronavirus. The health and wellbeing of our business partners, families, and friends are of the utmost importance to us. We will make every attempt to reschedule this event with Colonel Timothy Druell as our guest speaker and the Harford County Chamber of Commerce as our sponsor in the very near future. If you have any questions or concerns, please email [email protected]. Thank you, and please everyone be smart and safe about your health and those around you.
A note from our President:
Vickie talked to Angela Rose from the Harford County Chamber and many of their events/meetings over the next several weeks have been moved to “virtual” events. The Rotary Club of Aberdeen has cancelled their weekly luncheons through the end of the month.
In light of the recent information and recommendations being made by Governor Hogan, I am recommending that we cancel the March 24, 2020 Aberdeen Chamber Luncheon. Vickie and I have been in communication this morning and she too agrees that this is in the best interest of our members and our community. Vickie is in the process of creating an email blast that will go out sometime today.
Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns or comments.
Thank you for all you do!

****APG day and nighttime training****
U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center will host training events January 7-10 and 13-16, 2020 that may be heard or seen outside the installation. The training events may include military weapons and watercraft visible during the day and night. The surrounding communities may hear weapon firing and see flashes or light visible off post from illumination devices. Just a reminder that Christmas Street is December 7! And don't forget to visit the Craft Fair at the high school this year!!
Any long-time Aberdeen resident can tell you that Christmas in Aberdeen isn’t quite the same without the traditional Christmas Craft Fair hosted at Fire Station One (behind City Hall). When the highly anticipated renovations to the Station were about to begin, the question about holding the Craft Fair wasn’t far behind.
Thanks to Mrs. Vickie Horne of the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce, leaders from City Hall and Harford County Public Schools, a new location for the event has been identified at the Aberdeen High School!!!! The Craft Fair will be held on December 7th from 9AM to 1PM.
The other great news is a regional school wresting meet will take place in another part of the high school that day. What a fantastic way to spend what promises to be a brisk December Saturday morning... wresting and crafts all under the same roof! Come relax in the cafeteria or enjoy the other food vendors, support a young wrestler or shop till you drop for some of the holiday’s best bargains.
We enjoyed our networking evening tonight! Thank you to our sponsors and everyone who came out!!
