It would have been nice to open our 16th season with a ribbon cutting for the new entrance to the Millennium Memorial Complex which includes Reilly Field, an all-weather track and the Catherine and Joseph Nisby Bandstand! We'll make it extra special when we return in 2021.
The ASC Committee was hopeful that August concerts could be held but with restrictions of only 100 people for outdoor gatherings (confirmed by our Health Agent) it will not be possible. All the bands scheduled for this year have been moved to 2021.
Doo-Wop DeVille was scheduled to perform at our End-of-Summer concert and has done a Covid-inspired, original music video that was assembled entirely from remote musical and video performances. They hope it makes you smile!

To all who enjoy LIVE MUSIC at the Abington Summer Concerts...
It is with a heavy heart that the Abington Summer Concerts Committee has had to cancel the concerts scheduled for the last Sunday in June, all of July along with Kids Night.
We have no idea when bans will be lifted. Most of our concerts draw between 500 and 1000 people, so with that many in attendance, social distancing would be almost impossible. There is also the issue of keeping restrooms sanitized and whether or not food and ice cream could be served following the added rules. We are waiting to see what will be allowed in Phase III before we make a decision about the August concerts.
Our plan is to move everything to the same weekend next year. Hopefully by then our country will have some sense of normalcy.
This was a very difficult decision to make but one that we feel is in the best interest of the many people involved.
Sincerely,
Nancy Reid, Chairperson
Abington Summer Concerts Committee

It was so good to see one of last season's summer concerts this Sunday afternoon on Abington CAM.. It was held indoors due to rain but it brought back great memories. Hopefully Abington CAM will broadcast more...Still hoping for LIVE concerts this summer at the Bandstand. This was the "Brass Kickin' Horns" formerly known as "The Infractions."

A very special thank you to all our Sponsors, Donors and weekly attendees for supporting the Abington Summer Concerts. It was another great summer (or fall if you were there Sunday)!
A shout out to the Abington Lions Club members who volunteered their time each week to feed those attending the concerts.
Thank you to CREAM and Craig Perry for bringing their traveling ice cream cart each week and cooling us off!
The Abington Summer Concerts Committee; Nancy Reid, Chairperson, Ken Coyle, Selectmen's Liaison, Dr. Peter McDonald and Jan Prall hope that everyone enjoyed their summer listening to LIVE music at the Catherine and Joseph Nisby Bandstand! See you in 2020!

This Sunday the concert with Doo-Wop DeVille is moving indoors to the AHS/AMS Auditorium (201 Gliniewicz Way) due to the extreme heat. We are following a directive from the Town Manager's Office concerning outdoor activities. The Senior Van will be available for pick-up and drop off at the different parking lots around the school. https://local.nixle.com/alert/7414098/….

The Abington Summer Concerts Series first opened in 2005 with a handful of concerts. Fast forward to 2020 and it’s our 16th season! We now have concerts each Sunday beginning the last Sunday in June and finishing the weekend before Labor Day! All concerts are FREE.
Funding is provided by Sponsors who give $200 or more, Donors who give $25-$199 and by Concert Attendees who contribute each week. We also receive a grant from the Abington Cultural Council each year. NO town funds are ever used.
There is a wide variety of music for all ages to enjoy. Two special concerts each year include an Abington Night with the Abington Community Band and a Kids Night that is a major hit with families. The average weekly attendance in 2019 was 680 with three concerts drawing over 1,000 attendees each. Studio Two - The Beatles Tribute Band still holds the record attendance from 2018 of 1,140. The End of Summer Concert is always a fan favorite too!
Thanks to the Abington Lions Club food is available each week for purchase. They grill up hamburgers and hot dogs and have snacks and drinks at reasonable prices. CREAM (Rt. 18 in Abington) is also on hand with their traveling cart. There is nothing like a hand scooped cup of ice cream on a hot summer night. You may also bring your own food.
