[01/31/19]   We DO NOT partner with DOORDASH! If you order from them, they do not have authority to place to go orders with us and do not have our most current menu. We have repeatedly told them to stop using our name and old menu but we get complaints daily about food not being delivered. We will not use their service because they have a reputation of not paying their restaurants and they do not deliver food quick enough to ensure itโ€™s hot and fresh. So if you try to order our food from them, beware...

*Customer poll; We have discussed and even (briefly) attempted to add a delivery service. Let us know if this is something you would like to see and would actively use. But we wonโ€™t use doordash or other companies. It would be an in-house delivery service staffed by us with limited range and hours so let me know areas, times, etc if youโ€™re interested in us adding this option!

Don't hold me to this because we generally don't have great confidence in a snow amount until the day before, but here are some preliminary POSSIBLE amounts for next Tue night/Wed. (please remember the base map in this model is white and does not indicate snow)

Rain may briefly transition to a rain/snow mix or light snow Saturday into early Sunday for parts of the South and Southeast. Western locations on the map (Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas) may see the transition occur on Saturday; central location western and central Tennessee, northern Mississippi and northern Alabama) may see the transition occur Saturday night; and eastern locations (northern Georgia, eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina) may see the transition very early Sunday morning.

The period for wintry precipitation will be brief, coupled with warm ground temperatures, which will limit the opportunity for accumulations. With that said, some areas may see light accumulations. The best chance for accumulations will be across the purple areas on the map.

Gonna get cold outside!!!
https://www.facebook.com/136842186352541/posts/1995295917173816?sfns=cl

We're about to make the mid-month transition to a much colder pattern across the eastern two-thirds of the nation. The coldest air of the season thus far should arrive early next week, and although there will be some temperature swings, there should be several intrusions of Arctic air occurring between now and early February.

This is pretty much occurring right on time. These are projected temperature anomalies (not actual temperatures) for early Monday morning. We're talking temperatures around 20 to 30 degrees below average. It's that time of year, but be prepared!

Keeping a close eye on the upcoming weekend for parts of the South, Southeast and into the Mid-Atlantic. A Gulf Low should develop late Friday and move eastward through the weekend. At the same time, clipper-like system will dive towards the southeast from the Midwest. This should aid in precipitation and a temperature profile supportive of wintry weather for the areas outlined on the map.

This event is several days out and guidance is split so confidence is low at this point. It is possible moisture gets suppressed further south, which would decrease wintry precipitation chances for the outlined areas. Keep checking back for updates as some of the questions begin to get ironed out as we get closer to the weekend.

-Meteorologist Christopher Nunley

Go enjoy the BRIX patio this week while itโ€™s warm outside. I hear cold weather is coming... eventually. Maybe.

If it snows weโ€™re having a snowman building contest on the deck! โ˜ƒ๏ธโ˜ƒ๏ธโ˜ƒ๏ธ

https://www.facebook.com/136842186352541/posts/1942085285828213?sfns=0

On the southern regions of this swath of snow accumulations (parts of AR, TN, GA, SC, NC), these snowfall totals are overdone simply because sleet and freezing rain will lower totals significantly. But outside of those regions, especially across northern Upstate SC, parts of western and central NC, and southern Virginia, the snowfall totals could be unreal. The one thing that could prevent this would be a stronger warm nose aloft, but if that were the case, then more locations would end up with a nasty ice storm.

With all of that said, this map from the FV3-GFS depicts where frozen precipitation could occur, and it doesn't look too far off from reality to me. You'd be surprised at what some cold air damming can do for regions on the east side and just south of the Appalachians.

This isn't a bad approach to take at this point. This map shows the probability of at least 1 inch of snow falling by Monday morning, December 10. This takes all of the latest European model ensembles (slight variations of the same model) and produces a probabilistic forecast. -Matthew

Just gonna leave this right here and walk away slowly.... ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐ŸŒจโ„๏ธโ˜ƒ๏ธ

Yes, today's run of the European model went crazy. These maps are fun to look at, but at 7 days out, it's still best to look at how the pattern is going to evolve. We discussed this potential winter storm on Firsthand Weather several days ago. We foresaw this because of the upcoming pattern, not because of snowfall output maps.

But still, I do think these maps open up opportunities for good discussion. I'm working on an article that will go out tonight about this winter storm potential. Again, at this point, the goal over the next few days is to begin narrowing down who could be impacted, and then we'll address potential amounts later in the week. Please refer to Chris's earlier map, and we will modify that as needed.

-Matthew

Come enjoy this beautiful day on our deck. Not bad at all for December!
