Ingy's Piano Bar

Comments

I've had Ingy on my heart and mind so much lately. When I left school on March 13th, I was thinking about her. I was thinking about how sad she would be that we had to cancel our musical. I was thinking about how hard this would be for her to not get to see people and wrap them up in a big hug. Now I sit and think about how heart broken she would be with everything else going on in the world right now. I also think that it's crazy to realize that she died this year. It seems like so long ago. While I miss her so so much and think of her often (even sitting here crying as I think about her and her love), I am glad that she is in a better place and not here for all of this garbage that 2020 has dealt us so far.
Seasons of love ❤️
We miss you, we love you, we are thankful for the times we shared with you, and we celebrate major impact you had on all of us and the love you shared with all of us!

This is why I am at Piano Bar almost every week. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Have a Great Day...

Since 1999, Ingy's has been the best place in town to get together with friends old and new to laugh, sing and have a great time!

Ingy's Piano Bar is up and running at Tear-EZ Bar on Main St. Stop on down on Sundays from 6-10pm!

[04/24/20]   Hello everyone! Just wanted to check in and see how everyone’s doing? I hope you are all safe and well and staying busy during all of this. Miss and love you all!! 🎹❤️

[03/19/20]   Hello everyone, I know we are all having a bit of a rough time at the moment and I’ll admit, I’ve been thinking often of Ingy. The love and warmth that she radiated would have been a true comfort in this time, although I’m not sure how she would have balanced her famous hugs with all of this social distancing. 😄 I would like to encourage all of you to take a moment and when these events feel like they are going to overwhelm you, think of Ingy. Use your memories of her and the times she spent with all of us to summon that warmth, calm, and joy that she always shared with everyone. She trained us well over the years and even now she can provide comfort and joy to those of us who loved and knew her and through us, to all of our loved ones, friends, and family. Sing when you can, laugh when you can, cry when you must, and love always, without reservation. We will get through this. We will gather together again and raise our voices in love and friendship. Until then, be kind, love each other, and wash your hands. Love and light.

P.S. For those of you who need a little music to make it through the day, wander over to Spotify and check out the 4U Ingy playlist that Katie Hasenyager created. It’s a collection of a lot of Ingy’s favorite songs (and it’s great to sing along to).

The Deborah "Ingy" Ingersoll Memorial Scholarship Fund

Hi everyone, A note from Joe Thornton about the Ingy Memorial Scholarship:

We're moving forward with the scholarship! Here's our first newsletter.
If you aren't currently on the mailing list for this newsletter, please email me and ask to be added. [email protected]

Hi Everyone!

We just wanted to give you a brief update on what’s currently going on with the Deborah “Ingy” Ingersoll Scholarship.

THANK YOU

First we would like to thank everyone who donated to the scholarship fund at the Memorial Piano Bar held on February 9th. We announced the forming of the scholarship that night and the response was fantastic!

Since then, we have formed a board and made some decisions as to what comes next.

FUNDRAISING

With the kind help of Randy Austin, Mr. Gay Cleveland, we are in the planning stages of a benefit show to continue to raise funds. We expect to be holding that in early May.

SCHOLARSHIP TO BE AWARDED

Even more exciting than that, we are thrilled to announce that we’re already planning to award our first scholarship THIS YEAR! But we need your help to make that happen. As we get a little closer to that time, we’ll announce the acceptance of applications as well as the amount of the award.

DONATIONS

All donations to the Deborah “Ingy” Ingersoll Scholarship are tax deductible! When you donate online (link below) you’ll be immediately emailed a tax receipt. When you donate in person at an event, we’ll be happy to send you a tax receipt.

INGY’S PIANO BAR

[02/07/20]   Hello everyone, I want to share some good news with you. A group of people, including Carol Barlow and Joe Thornton have decided to put together a scholarship fund in Ingy’s name. The details are still being worked out, but I wanted to let you know that there will be representatives from the group at the Memorial Piano Bar on Sunday and they will be able to start accepting donations. They can accept cash, credit cards, and checks (made out to Great Conjunction) and the donations will be tax-deductible. As more information about this scholarship fund becomes available, I will share it on the page and once a link is available for web donations I will share that as well. Ingy would be delighted to know that she will be helping music students for years to come. Thank you for your love and friendship and stay tuned for more information. Love and light.

Just wanted to share an update about Ingy’s services this weekend. A reminder, tomorrow there will be calling hours from 4-7 at Family of Faith Church and the memorial service will be on Saturday at 10am also at Family of Faith Church. The service Saturday will be followed by a graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery and then people will return to the church for dinner afterward. Both tomorrow after 5:30 and Saturday after 2, family and friends will be welcome to gather after the services at Tear-EZ to spend time together, and share stories and memories of Ingy. Also, we are planning a Memorial Piano Bar night and we will share more information as we plan it. Thank you. Love and light.

Obituary for Deborah L. Ingersoll | Eckard Baldwin FH Inc

eckardbaldwin.com Share memories & support the family

I know we are all still reeling from yesterday’s news and while we may be coping with the initial shock of losing such a bright soul, the process of grieving will be a long one. Often, it is a little easier to grieve in community with others and share our memories and experiences with friends and family. To that end, I wanted to share with you the information about services for Ingy. Calling hours will be Friday 4-7, and the Memorial will be at 10 am on Saturday, both at Family of Faith Church, 800 E. Market St., Akron. Lisa has requested that the Piano Bar family sing two songs, Seasons of Love and Because I Knew You and we will be accompanied by Ryan Bergeron. Thank you for your faith and love and the incredible support you have shown Ingy, her family, and each other through this difficult time. Love and light.

Twenty years ago, a sweet, kind, beautiful and brilliant woman started something amazing. She didn’t just create a night out at the bar, she built a family. She brought us together, nurtured us, loved us, and hugged us. She filled our lives with light and joy, and, of course, music. She touched my life, and all of yours, so profoundly that it is almost indescribable. And tonight, more than twenty years later, we have lost her. My heart is broken and I am grieving for her family, her friends, for all of us who will miss that voice, that light and that warmth in our lives. I can honestly say that, because we knew you, we truly have been changed for good. My God I’m going to miss you. I love you Ingy, we all do. May you be at peace. Goodbye my sweet, dear friend. Love and light. Always.

Friends, I know many of you have already heard the news, but we wanted to share on the page as well. After a very long and exhausting struggle, our beloved Ingy is losing her battle with cancer. She has fought valiantly and everything that can be done, has been done. She has now made the choice to move to hospice. We are not sure how much time she has left, but it is clear that the woman who has been a shining star for so long to so many of us, is fading. Her sister Lisa says that she is not currently up to having visitors, but if she has a few days where she is up for visitors, Lisa will reach out to people and let them know. I know your hearts are breaking, and so is mine. We thought she would be with us at that piano forever, but, as too often happens, it seems that God, or the Universe, has other plans. We stand together as a family and send our love and light to Ingy and her family in this inconceivably difficult time. Also, we wanted to let you know that the GoFundMe that so many of you donated so generously to, will be closed today. Ingy is well taken care of and has what she needs at the moment. If you wish to make a financial donation of some sort, Ingy has asked that you donate to cancer research or the Playhouse Square Education Department. Thank you for all your years of love and support and I promise we will continue to share updates here on the page as the family shares them with us. Love and light.

Just wanted to share an update from Ingy’s friend Shell.

Ingy had a follow up appointment with her doctor and he said her recovery was going exceptionally well. Now she only needs to see her other doctor and he will schedule the cat scan and MRI in a month or so. He said she was recovering exceptionally well! She is driving and back at Piano Bar and has moved back to her apartment. She was at Virginia Kendall ledges on Wednesday along with Shell, and her guardian angel as you can see from the photo.

Thank you everyone for all of the love and support you’ve given Ingy over the years and especially over these last few months. She’s so touched by everyone’s care and concern. You are an amazing group of people! Thank you! Love and light.

[09/16/19]   A huge thank you to everyone who came out tonight!! Ingy was thrilled to see so many friends who love her. A special thank you to all of our wonderful performers, Tara Corkery, Ryan Bergeron, Tim Anderson, Ronnie Roberts, Curtis Tate, Kat Glover, Ezra Keeton, Sharon Walsh, and Poppy Lugo. Also, a huge thank you to our emcee, Randy Austin and our organizer and bartender, Chuck Bartlett. Everyone came together to put together an absolutely incredible night and Ingy was thrilled. A super special thank you to Ingy herself for stepping in and playing a couple numbers! It was great to have her back at the Piano for a few. Thank you again to everyone who came out, and thank you to everyone who donated generously. Love and light to everyone!

A special shout-out to Ingy from last night’s Piano Bar!

Ladies and Gentlefolk, for one night only, the incomparable JT Buck is returning to Piano Bar! Tomorrow night, August 25, JT will be in town and filling in at the Piano for our beloved Ingy. Also, as a special tribute, all tips collected by him tomorrow night will be donated to Ingy to help with her medical and living expenses, so come out, say Hi to JT and tip generously!! Hope to see you all there!

[08/25/19]   Hey everyone, just wanted to share an update from Ingy’s sister, for those of you that haven’t seen the GoFundMe.

Update on Ingy: She just completed 10 rounds of whole brain radiation on Wednesday, and her first immunotherapy infusion yesterday. She will have immunotherapy every three weeks in efforts to immobilize her immune system to fight the cancer. She would like you all to know that she is very humbled and thankful for your generosity and love. She is very thankful for your thoughts and prayers. "Give each other a hug for me!."

Thank you again for all your love and support!!

Thank you all so much for your love, kindness and incredible generosity. You are a spectacular group of people! I also want to share a brief update on Ingy. You guys are amazing!!! Over $8000 raised in a little over 24 hours! I visited Ingy today and she is so touched and overwhelmed by everyone’s love and support. She shared with me that they have a treatment plan in place and it is already in process. She is tired, but in good spirits and buoyed immensely by your love, good wishes, prayers and supportive thoughts. In addition to the amazing GoFundMe, that has taken off faster than any of us would have believed, there are several in-person benefits planned/being planned and we will keep all of you informed as more information becomes available. Thank you again for the incredible generosity and love you have shown our amazing Ingy!

For those of you that are wanting and able to help, we have a way for all of you to do that. For 20 years, Ingy has sat behind a piano and played her heart out for all of us. As a thank you, we would toss whatever we could spare into her tip jar. Now, as our beloved Ingy faces the hardest challenge of her life, we are asking you to get out those wallets and toss what you can in Ingy’s biggest tip jar ever. As most of you now know, earlier this year, Ingy was diagnosed with cancer. She has fought tirelessly and bravely, still fitting in gigs between chemotherapy treatments, but now she needs our help. After months of treatment, the cancer has spread to her brain. She has a team of doctors and a wealth of loving family fighting by her side, but fighting cancer is expensive. She needs help from all of her friends, colleagues, and fellow performers to help cover costs of living and medical expenses. Any amount you are able to donate is an incredible blessing and if you are not able to donate, we ask that you share this far and wide and help Ingy get the help that she needs. She has showered us all with love and joy for decades, it’s our turn to return the favor. Thank you for all of your love, prayers, and help. Love and light.

Some of you may have already seen this post, but for those that haven’t, we have some difficult news. Ingy has been diagnosed with cancer that has spread to her brain. As the post below says, she has a team of doctors on her side working to come up with a treatment plan. If there is anything you all can do to help, we will let you know. For now, please send all of the good thoughts, prayers, and healing energy that you can muster. Let the love of the Piano Bar family help carry her through this. Thank you all and we will keep you updated as we learn more. Love and Light.
