Trump joins nervous Republicans in pouring money into CA House races

As Republican’s pour money into California, we need to continue to push back! Flip the 14 With just 100 days to go before the Nov. 6 election, Republicans are preparing to pour millions of dollars into tight congressional races in California and across the nation in an effort to block Democrats from flipping the 23 seats they need to take control of the House. George Soros Bet Big on Liberal Democracy. Now He Fears He Is Losing.

This NYTimes profile on George Soros is a long, but compelling read on this major political donor. He's supported numerous presidential campaigns: Kerry in 2004, Obama in 2008, and Clinton in 2016. Most recently, he supported Pamela Price's unsuccessful bid for Alameda County District Attorney. His enemies paint him as all-powerful, but the billionaire philanthropist believes that his political legacy has never been in greater jeopardy.

London Breed is the exception — why few blacks rise to power in Bay Area

Running for office is prohibitively expensive. If we want the leadership in our country to be more diverse we're going to have to change the way we finance campaigns. As the celebration of London Breed’s inauguration as San Francisco’s first black female mayor fades, a more ominous statistic looms: There’s a chance the Bay Area will have no African American representatives in the Legislature after the November election. The only African American on the ball...

Seven Republican Districts in California Favored Clinton. Can Democrats Flip Them in November?

Seven Republican Districts in California Favored Clinton. Can Democrats Flip Them in November? These are the districts Democrats think they have the best chance to flip. But it remains an open question what the presidential result may mean for Democrats in the midterms.

Follow the ricochets: Those campaign ads may have hidden targets | CALmatters

Campaign Ads often have hidden agendas; that's why it is important to always follow the money! Why would a group trying to elect Democrats buy ads promoting their Republican opponents to conservative watchers of Fox News? Because California’s election rules have turned normal campaign tactics on their head.

Democrats’ Horrible 2018 Senate Map Couldn’t Have Come At A Better Time

We need to flip 2 Senate seats, without losing any of our current seats for a Democratic Majority in the Senate! You hear it all the time: The 2018 Senate map is bad, even “brutal,” for Democrats. Of the 35 seats on the ballot this cycle, 26 are held by senators who caucus…

Risk Factors for 2018 GOP House Incumbents

The Cook Political Report released a report identifying seven risk factors facing Republicans in Congress and identifying which incumbents running for re-election may be in trouble based on them. Multiple indicators, including generic ballot polls, President Trump's approval ratings and recent special election results, point to midterm danger for Republicans. But without robust race-by-race polling, it's trickier to predict individual races six months out.

Long hours, low pay push Democratic campaign workers to unionize

Long hours and low pay have pushed Democratic campaign workers to unionize.
❓Do you think labor organization will benefit or handicap our Democratic campaigns? "It's been far too long that workers in this industry have been exploited," said Ihaab Syed, the secretary of the Campaign Workers Guild.

11 aspire to a powerless political office | CALmatters

Can you name any of the candidates running for Lt. Governor? Decades ago, a clever person – precisely who is somewhat obscure – quipped that the California lieutenant governor’s job is to wake up in the morning, check the newspapers to be sure the governor is still alive and then find a service club to address for a free lunch. That’s not exactly accu...
