For myself Memorial Day's arrival has always been signified by the blooming of my Gardenia bush's. Each year for the last 13 years without fail they have bloomed at the end of May. Their fragrance covers the yard in a light breeze and with each whiff of scent I am reminded to enjoy it with all my blessing's. It also remind's me of many of our Comrades that will not enjoy with us the fruits of their ultimate sacrifice. The United States has always been the closest to governmental perfection of freedom and dignity of it's citizens. This is made possible only through our military. This Memorial Day whether you present a wreath at a tomb, March in a parade, Clean a gravesite of a Comrade, Attend a service and or a parade. Or get together with family and friends. Raise a glass and remember our Comrades that are unable to be with us. On behalf of VFW 2785: HONOR OUR FALLEN!

Continuing work on the Annex roof. Slow but steady.

More work on the Annex roof today. Felt completed on one end and starting to apply shingles. Thanks to Comrades Robertson and Tangwall for continuing the project. Off loaded about 2000 lbs of shingles and countless climbs up and down ladders. Beverage break for the remainder of the day!

Broken Chain will be performing at the Post Saturday 5 May, starting at 8 pm. Playing modern country music. Open to the public. No cover charge. Beer starts out at 3 dollars and we will have specials throughout the evening. Come on out and support your local veterans at the VFW. I cannot think of a better way of raising funds at the local level for veterans programs than through music and beverages!

Will be continuing working on the Annex roof this Saturday 21APR18 starting at 0800. We have 3 working topside laying felt and applying shingles. Can use more assistance cleaning up around annex on the ground. Helps keep the nails out of our boots! Doing beverages afterwards!

VFW Post 2785 and AUX in coordination with the One For All (OFA) organization are holding an auction on 23JUNE2018 to support our veterans/youth programs. This Auction aids your local VFW with providing funds for various local activities; Supporting local veterans (PTSD dogs and assistance for basic needs). Youth programs that support pride in being American through the Voices of Democracy and Patriots Pen competitions as well is at the VFW State and National levels supporting our National home and aiding us in voicing our concerns to the Legislative branch in regards to your veterans. To much to list however all can be seen at the VFW website! Please visit. Your local VFW does this! We don't blow our horn much so stop by the post and find out what we do. You will be impressed. More details on the Auction to follow. This Auction is LOUD and fun! Not like others I have seen. The last time we did this in 2016 we were able to raise 8500.00 bucks. And we have been able to support many veterans. More details to follow.

Getting it done! Worked some more repairing weak area's and starting to lay the felt. Long way to go still! Will send. out next time frame to continue

Work progressing on the Annex roof! One side cleared and repaired. This weekend we will be laying felt prepping for shingles. Saturday is awash so we will be working Sunday from 8 to 12. All topside work at this point. Looking for volunteers: Bring knee pads, rubber soled shoes and Hammer!

VFW 2785 Annex roof requires repairs! Started today. Bravo Zulu to Comrades Edwards, Henson, Lafrenz, Malachi, Tangwall, White and Leony Tangwall for stepping up and improving the post annex. Much more work ahead. I call on the rest of the members to assist and bring the annex to operation condition. We will be continuing on Sunday morning (25th MAR)8 am to 4 pm to roll underlayment and shingles on the West side for now.. Recommend steel toed shoes, knee pads and a hammer.

VFW 2785 POST/AUX has donated $1250.00 towards this event. For those of you planning on running any of the distances the course is flat and easy. Perfect for a beginning runner. We will be assisting during this event and I encourage the membership to come out and support this worthy cause.

Are you looking for a sweet race to do this November?! Barney's Run For Warriors will be hosting their annual run November 18th with four different distances all the way up to a full marathon!! Swing by Wild Side Running to check out this awesome map of the courses. Every penny earned goes to train and purchase service dogs for veterans. I plan on running and I hope to see you there!

Had a Blast at the VFW post last night. Lots of great costumes and music

The mission of the VFW foremost is to support our veterans and active duty military through legislative representation (National and State levels) and support of the local veterans (Local Post level). No one does more to support our veterans! That us! However we also support the local community! Many times at cost and or at no cost and donations for sponsoring local charitable events at the Post throughout the year. Here's a kicker we are all volunteer's and spend our time, resources and sweat keeping the post clean and operational (Bartenders work for tips only! We can't pay them. Please support!). Operational expenses average approx $4000.00 a month to maintain our post and support our programs. We ask that you make a donation to our post during VETFEST 2017. The donations we receive will help us maintain the post and support our programs. Please view the VFW national website to see where your donation money in part goes at: VFW.org. This will be a great event!! Hundreds of volunteer man-hours have gone into prepping for this event. The Bands/stage/sound /lighting/sponsors/ volunteers/vendors and more have made this possible. I cannot name them all because I will miss someone (So please thank them and patronize their business it can't be done without them). One exception: Without Mr. Brian Shattles: This would never have started! Thank you Sir! So come on out. Have a great time supporting your local VFW. Sent on the behalf of Commander VFW 2785, Mr. Arthur Williams.
