Hello Eagles, I hope everyone is staying safe. I wanted to reach out to thank everyone SO MUCH for donating to the Bartender Relief Fund. You all just took a huge weight off my shoulders. I am so grateful. Your generosity is incredible and it means so much to me. I am proud to be a member of FOE. I can't wait to get back to work (hopefully soon!) Thank you soooo much, I can't wait to see you!!
I had a wonderful time at this year's Christmas Party. My thanks to all those who made it happened!
Dear Brothers, I volunteer with a wonderful animal rescue group called Homeward Trails. One of the ways we make money is through "puppy parties." We bring puppies who are living with fosters to offices, homes, schools, etc. for an hour and a half party. Yes, the kids love it, but you should see the adults just melt. They sink to the floor in their nice suits and let puppies crawl all over them. We have a party tomorrow in Georgetown but no volunteers to transport the puppies from Crystal City. If you are free tomorrow and willing to help out, please let me know and I will put you in touch with the right people. The work involves picking up the puppies about 11:30, taking them to the party, staying with them, until 1:30 and bringing them back to the foster's house. I've done this many times, and it is an absolute blast. Unfortunately, I have to work tomorrow. Homeward Trails is even willing to pay $100 of the $200 fee we earn. This isn't exactly "people helping people" but it is helping those in need. Please let me know if you are interested. Beverly Bell
Wanted to thank everyone for making me feel at home to my new fraternity. You all are great and will check in soon to the 871! Thanks again!

Virginia Adopts First-in-the-Nation Workplace Safety Standards for COVID-19 Pandemic

Hello Aerie and Auxiliary Members,

Governor Northam’s Reopening Virginia was revised on Monday, July 15, 2020 to include, “Virginia Adopts First-in-the-Nation Workplace Safety Standards for COVID-19 Pandemic”

Current guidelines allow ALVA Aerie 871 to remain open with restrictions. We will continue to open on the following days, plus we will expand the operating hours and an additional day (Thursday).

Below please find the revised hours of operation:

Wednesday - Sunday
Open 4:00 PM
Close 12:00 AM

Hours may change periodically pending future State of Virginia and City of Alexandria health and safety conditions, or as the Aerie BOT necessitates.

Hall rentals will resume and be allowed for groups up to 100. An additional sanitation fee of $100.00 will be applied to all future hall use/rentals.

Please continue to observe our temporary House Rules – based on federal and state guidelines and health department regulations and Aerie best practices -- in order to keep
the bartenders, yourself, and your friends safe.

Per the Commonwealth of Virginia, Office of the Governor, Executive Order, Number 63 -

• You shall wear a mask when moving around the Aerie and not seated at your table. This includes but is not limited to: Moving to purchase beverages at the bar, traveling to the restrooms, traveling to the locker room, traveling to the gaming machines, and traveling within the Rathskeller in general. Wearing your mask is especially important when entering and leaving the club since the parking lot entryway is a choke point.

• Please do not come to the Aerie if you do not feel well.

• ABC REQUIREMENT - You shall present your new membership card since our new fiscal year began in June. You will be REFUSED entrance without your membership card.

• We will be operating at reduced hours. (See Phase III Hours of Operation or check the website.) There will be no Friday dinners or Bloody Mary breakfasts until further
notice.

• We are only allowed to have 50 people in the Rathskeller at any one time. This isn’t likely to be a problem without our large events, but the bartender has the authority to deny entrance should we reach capacity.

• Please follow the signs designed to keep everyone six feet apart. Until further notice, we cannot allow seating at the bar. We have placed tables and chairs at an appropriate social distance, so please don’t move them to create bigger groupings.

• Because of the danger of transmission of the virus, there will be no smoking or vaping allowed EXCEPT in parking lot. Current rules already forbid alcohol in parking lot.

• We are suspending the Daily and Weekly books until further notice.

• We will have four electronic pull-tab machines in operation as of 07/22/2020, and paper pull-tabs are available. Because of the difficulty of keeping shared equipment clean, the pool tables, dart boards, and golf machine are
closed. The jukebox may be operated remotely.

• To help limit the spread of the virus, the club is offering a limited menu and using plastic glasses and paper plates.

• We are only selling wine by the bottle.

• Hand sanitizer, paper towels and other cleaners are provided throughout the Rathskeller. Please sanitize your table when you leave. Wipe off the ATM and electronic game machines when you are finished.

NOTE: To protect this equipment, you should spray the cleaner onto the paper towel and then wipe down surfaces. Spraying cleaners directly on to the machines can cause harm.
