Happy New Year from our family to yours!♥️🎉🤗
Ring in the New Years right with Veuve Clicquot!!🍾🎆🥂🎉
Merry Christmas from our family to yours!💖🎄💙🎁😘💙
Another eventful year has passed and we had another fantastic holiday season. Our bestselling wine this year was the Austin Hope Cabernet from Paso Robles, our "Baby Caymus". Thank all of you for making our little shop their top account in California after selling almost 500 cases this year!
We tried our best to open the Orange location this holiday but unfortunately, we could not make it. We jumped through many hoops already, including the ABC Liquor License, City of Orange Conditional Use Permit, Health Department, Fire and Police inspections. We did not pass the Building and Planning Inspection, but are working on it now. We are hoping to have our Soft Opening on February 1st, 2019.
We are ready for a relaxing Christmas Break after all the holiday madness. We wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support!

ALISO VIEJO - SATURDAY DEC. 22
Far Niente is a beautiful old winery built in 1885 by John Benson, a forty-niner from the Gold Rush and the Uncle of famous American Painter, Winslow Homer. The winery flourished for many years until the Prohibition in 1919, when the winery was abandoned. 60 years later, Gil Nickel bought the winery and after a 3 year restoration, reopened the winery under its original name Far Niente, Italian for ”without a care”. Nickel and Nickel, started in 1997, is devoted to single vineyard wines, the core being Cabernet Sauvignon. En Route was established in 2007, a culmination of an almost 30 year passion for Pinot Noir by the owners of Far Niente. Their goal is to make the best Pinot from Russian River fruit. #nickelnickel #farniente #enroute #wine #ocwinemart

JUSTIN JUSTIFICATION MAGNUMS on sale at both stores!🍷🍷
The 2013 Justification is a beautiful wine, a blend of 58% Cabernet Franc and 42% Merlot. The wine is very dark with intoxicating aromas from the glass. There is ripe cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry, with hints of vanilla and cinnamon. On the tongue, the wine opens up and reveals ripe red fruit, mostly cherries and cassis, with bits of plum, baking spices. Some dustiness along with savory mint and eucalyptus notes lead to a long finish.

“Make the Brickyard Grape Again!”🍷🍇We tried our best to open for the holidays but ran into permitting issues. CAYMUS & WAGNER FAMILY WINE TASTING
SATURDAY - DECEMBER 15th
The Wagner family is the royalty of Napa Valley and for a good reason. It has been over 45 years since Charlie Wagner, along with wife Lorna and son Chuck founded Caymus Vineyards. Together they have built one of the most iconic winery in the New World. The Wagner family's history in Napa Valley spans back to the 1850s and they have made it their mission to use the best practices and best grapes to make the best wine. They always refer to themselves as farmers, and they are farmers of the highest order.
Napa Valley soil runs deep in the veins of the Wagner Family. Chuck’s eldest son Charlie is the winemaker for Mer Soleil, Conundrum, and also his latest project, Red Schooner - a dark, rich, Malbec made in the Caymus style. Daughter Jenny is the winemaker at Emmolo, making a Sauvignon Blanc and an opulent Merlot. Youngest son Joe Wagner sold the Meiomi brand and branched off to open his own winery, Copper Cane, featuring best-sellers such as Quilt Cabernet and Belle Glos Pinot Noir.

Grgich Hills Wine Tastings
ALISO VIEJO - December 8th 2018
Grgich Hills is one of the few Napa Valley wineries that practices organic and biodynamic farming. They make their own compost and place bird houses of different sizes to control the vineyard pests. When we visited the winery earlier this year, we were privileged to have breakfast with winemaker Ivo and the chickens in the Vineyard!
Miljenko "Mike" Grgich is our favorite American Dream story. He was born to a poor wine-making family in Croatia in 1923. He herded sheep as a child, studied agricultural science in University of Zagreb, and fled communist Yugoslavia to West Germany, then to Canada. In 1958, he arrived in Napa Valley on a Greyhound bus with a cardboard suitcase with his wine books and his life savings of $32 sewn to the sole of his shoe.
Mike first gained fame as the winemaker of the Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that won the 1973 “Paris Tasting” as the best Chardonnay in the World! This outcome stunned the Wine World, put Napa Valley on the map, and catapulted Mike to one of the world’s best winemakers. The movie "Bottle Shock" talks about this historical event.
Someone over 21 (in human years) accepted our wine delivery today.🍷
Austin Hope Wine Tastings
ALISO VIEJO TASTINGS ~
Saturday December 1st 2018
It all started in 1978 when Chuck Hope moved his family to Paso Robles to farm apples and grapes. In the 80s, the family began selling grapes to Caymus for its Liberty School label. He quite literally put Paso on the Map by playing a key part in gaining AVA status for Paso Robles in 1983.
Austin Hope began his career in the wine industry at a tender age of 8 by tending the vineyards with his Dad. He later earned a degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in fruit science and apprenticed under Caymus founder Chuck Wagner. He learned the nuts and bolts of the wine business from the master himself. According to Austin, “That was probably my a-ha moment. I realized that I not only wanted to grow grapes, but to manage our own label to bring our fruit directly to the market.” Not only he did that, he made history last year by making the first wine out of Paso Robles to score 97 points on Wine Enthusiast, the Austin Hope Cabernet! #austinhope #pasorobles
The Las Alturas Pinot Noir is from one of the highest altitude vineyards sights in the Santa Lucia Highlands. At this elevation the sunny, yet still cool climate gives the grapes all they need to make a robust, full-bodied, but balanced wine marked by firm acidity.
The wine is full-throttle, gung-ho delicious with strawberry jam, cherries, plums and anise leading the way. On the palate, you will taste dark fruits, wild berries, sweet oak and cocoa nibs. This is a big, unctuous glass of Pinot that is still very beautifully balanced by firm acidity. Las Alturas is one of California’s best Pinots and the best choice to impress your guests this Thanksgiving! #lasalturas #belleglos #pinotnoir
Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours! We’re grateful for all your support! 🙏🦃🍁🍷😘
DUCK HORN & CALERA TASTINGS
ALISO VIEJO - SATURDAY NOV. 17
A lot of things happened in 1976, our nations Bi-Centennial, Steve Jobs founded Apple, first fight of the Concorde, and the founding of Duckhorn Vineyards by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn. In the years that followed, they have made themselves into one of Napa’s premium wineries. Their Cabernets and especially Merlots are among the best in the country. Last year, their Three Palms Merlot was the #1 wine on the Top 100 Wine Spectator List.
Calera was founded in 1975 and has played a pivotal role in establishing Pinot Noir as a top varietal in North America. Calera has been called "California's Romani-Conti" by some in their drive to grow and make great Pinot Noir. Calera was bought by Duckhorn last year so that they could have a bigger presence on the Central Coast.

FRANK FAMILY TASTINGS
Aliso Viejo ~ Saturday November, 10 ($25)
The Frank Family Winery is housed in the historic Larkmead Winery built in 1884, it is the 3rd oldest winery built in California. Rich Frank, then President of Walt Disney Studios, bought the historic winery in 1992. Leslie, Rich’s wife is an Emmy award winning journalist who anchored KABC Los Angeles for many years. The Frank Family Winery is a truly a family affair with both sons currently working at the winery and the 3rd generation coming along.
The Frank Family portfolio style leans toward opulence. This feels especially true with the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which favor those seeking more richness with these grapes. Their Cabernets, especially the Rutherford Reserve, are silky in texture with lengthy flavors of blackberry, cassis, and dust.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 3rd - 6pm
Each year around Halloween, the Red Blend that took the world by storm, "The Prisoner" is released. It was started back in 2000 by Dave Phinney and sold in 2010, and has now become a benchmark for California Red Blends. It was inspired by the drinkable "mixed blacks" first made by Italian immigrants in Napa Valley. Gifted winemaker, Jen Beloz, worked with Dave Phinney to make the Prisoner wine in the bold, fruit-forward, yet smooth style we have come to love. It is an uncanny and innovative blend of Cabernet and Zinfandel, along with Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Charbono.

✨ I met @julielimoc about 5 years ago as she was just launching her wine shop in Yorba Linda, California called @ocwinemart. It is literally the only decent place to pick up a bottle of wine or craft beer in the North Orange County area. She is a fun vibrant saavy woman with a true heart for people and wine! We have hosted multiple events with her and are just so thankful for her and her crew! This bottle is the newest red from @orinswift called “8 Years In The Desert” which is a culmination of 20 years of wine production by Orin Swift. A blend of Zinfandel, Petit Syrah, Syrah and a few other reds and will showcase 8 custom labels released over the next 8 years. 👉🏼 Pick it up today @ocwinemart and ask for Julie! 🤗
@intrinsicwineco combines winemaking and street art. For both, the artist must work with an unpredictable canvas, blending instinct and experience to craft something vibrant, gusty and fleeting. Rebel heart. Urban soul. #intrinsic #zimer

Caymus imports Malbec grapes from the Mendoza, Argentina and ships it 6K miles to their winery in Napa Valley where they craft it into a fine wine in the tradition of their world-renowned Caymus Cabernet.
On the nose we have scents of ripe plum and cherry. Take a sip and you’ll get Blackberry, blueberry and plum, plus notes of chocolate, vanilla and saddle leather. It shows plenty of fruit but is not a "fruit bomb". It is velvety smooth with subtle tannins. In other words, it’s “An Iron Fist in a Velvet glove.”
This wine would go well with whatever you're planning to BBQ this Labor Day weekend. We fell in love with this wine from our first sip and the only Malbec that we have tasted which was superior to the Red Schooner was the Catena Zapata which retails for $100. You'd be foolish if you don' t invest in at least a few bottles of this wine at our sale price of $44.99. Take an additional 15% off for 6 bottles or more. Don't miss the boat on this great voyage!
ALISO VIEJO BATTLE OF BUTTERY CHARDONNAYS! — SATURDAY, AUGUST 25
Buttery Chardonnay is without a doubt the best selling category of wine in our stores, even more so than full-bodied Cabernet. Let's talk about how does the "Buttery" taste and texture come about. First, the creamy and smooth TEXTURE of Chardonnay comes from diacetyl, a natural by-product of malolactic fermentation.
Secondly, the buttery AROMAS (vanilla, butter, coconut) we sense are all the result of aging wine in new oak barrels. All of the Chardonnays we’ll be tasting this week have been fermented in new oak barrels, twice-filled barrels, or a combination of both.
The third step to creating rich & creamy Chardonnay is called "battonage.” This is the regular stirring of the "lees" (or spent yeasts) in the barrel, an action that tends to absorb the diacetyl. This is how rich and oaky Chards with round, smooth, viscous textures - such as Rombauer (Cougar Crack) or Lloyd Chardonnays are created.
No matter how you like your Chard buttered, you’re sure to find just the style for you at our Buttery Chardonnay tasting this week.

A tale of two Pinots
A blind tasting of Pinot Noirs from Oregon and California!
Oregon’s Willamette Valley has a distinctly continental climate compared to California. Unlike our maritime climates such as the Russian River Valley and the Central Coast, Oregon vines experience four seasons with cold winters and hot summers. Even compared to California’s foggiest locales, Oregon sees less sunshine than most AVAs, which forces the grapes to ripen much more slowly than in California.
In the wines, Oregon’s mild climate makes Pinots lighter in color, and more delicate in structure. California Pinots ripen easily, thanks to our constant sunshine, tend to be darker and more purple in color, and have riper flavors as a result. Yet, both climates produce some of the world’s finest Pinot Noirs. Please join us this week to taste the best of each region and discover which style you prefer! 🍷
