I just wanted to update you on how we are doing. Already my heart is full of love and appreciation because we have raised $750 so far for the food bank donations! I have 2 food banks already lined up and possibly a 3rd and 4th that we can donate to. This will help bring more food to those who need it during this scary time. If you want to donate still please let me know. You can contact me through my email address [email protected] and you can stay anonymous if you would like. Our lodge members are some of the best out there and this has proven it. Thank you to those who have donated.
*Edit* I will be contacting some food banks this week and have spoken to a couple of people who have said they will donate thank you! Any little bit will make a difference.
Members and friends of the lodge:
This will also be in my article for the May Elkhorn but wanted to share this with you all now.
I had a member get in contact with me whom asked to stay anonymous about the lodge starting an Elks Cares collection for local food banks and has already pledged money to get it going. I will be also donating money as well. I love this idea and especially during this time I know a lot of food banks are not accepting food donations due to the current guidelines and restrictions. This will be a way that they can restock and continue to help those who are in need. I am working out what would be the best way to get this started but if you would like to donate please contact me by email at [email protected], through the lodge’s page or by leaving a message for me at the lodge. If you want to stay anonymous be assured that I will not give out your name. Let us come together and help out others in our communities during these trying times. A special Thank You to the member who came to me with this idea.
I am posting an email I received earlier today, thinking it was from our State President originally, quickly realized it was a scam. I've notified our DVP about it and he has let the State chairs and President know as well. If you receive this please do not respond and report it to the State Elks association. People are trying to scam the Elks during this scary and unpredictable time. ~Janna ER
Are you available to assist? I am out of the State now, serving on an emergency team and I've got credence in you to take care of this. I would have called your phone but I presently do not have access to my mobile phone.
Michigan Elks Association needs some gift cards for donation to Veterans at Hospice and Palliative care units for preventive items from Corona Disease (COVID-19). I have decided to make it a personal duty. I will be responsible for the reimbursement.
What kind do you need? I can see what I can do and ask some of the members as well.
Thanks for your response, I need you to make arrangements for the purchase of $200 or 500$ denomination eBay gift cards or Target gift card or google play gift card, Total $1,400 for donation to Veterans at Hospice Care and welfare. kindly help purchase them online or at most Macy's Stores, Drug Stores and other Convenience Stores.
Scratch the back of each gift voucher, take a snapshot of each card or write out PIN & email to me for documentation purpose, also send directly to the Vets email, ( [email protected]) Veterans Hospice Palliative Care. It is imperative, that the task is concluded in a timely manner.
Stay Safe and Stay Healthy.
Now this is a cute story but it also mentions the Elks in that area helping achieve this to happen. So take a moment to say ahhh and to see that all over this country Elks are helping our communities!

Okay members, spouses and friends, I wanna know how are you and how was your Easter? Stay strong we will get through this! ~Janna ER
Members, spouses, and friends....
*please note the email from the state has already been shared on the page and is not attached to this post*
Member, spouses and friends,
As promised I would keep you all updated to the best of my knowledge of what is happening during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Spring State convention has been canceled, if you go to the Lodge's page you can see the letter that was sent out by our State President. I am also attaching it to this email as well. At this time, no mention of the Grand Lodge Convention in July as being canceled.
Currently it looks like the closure will be expanded until the end of April. No, nothing has officially gone out but with the continued rise in positive cases, at this time I do not see the lodge opening back up any sooner. If this does change, I will of course let you know.
I know we all miss being together and seeing our Elk family. When we get through this scary and unpredictable time, because we are Elk strong, we will once again be able to gather and enjoy each other's company.
I urge you all to stay safe, stay home, and keep the 6 feet social distance when you are out. Thank a healthcare worker, a policeman, a fireman, a paramedic or any other person who is deemed essential during this time as they are putting their own health and safety on the line to keep others safe.
If any of you need anything please don't hesitate to reach out and ask for help.
Again, I will continue to update you all as I find out more information.
Janna Sierens ER
Members, spouses, friends, check in. Do y'all need anything? ~Janna ER
The Spring convention has been canceled. Please read in regards to hotel reservations. ~Janna
[03/23/20] The April 6th lodge meeting has been canceled. After speaking with some of the PERs and my Knights I requested dispensation and it was granted. Stay safe everyone. We will get through this tough and trying time.
The lodge/lounge closure has been extended to April 13th. I am attaching the link to the executive order if you would like to check it out. Stay safe and know that you will continue to be updated if anything else changes.
michigan.gov Gov. Gretchen Whitmer -
During this time of uncertainty, we as Elks and as everyday people need to embrace Brotherly Love and Charity.
Check in on our elderly family members and neighbors, those who are immune compromised, even if it is by phone or text. Do our elderly and immune compromised neighbors and family members need essentials that they could not get? Even something as simple as some can goods or toilet paper could make their lives a little bit better. While we need to make sure we are all safe, there are those who have been unable to get what they need.
During this time let's not just think of ourselves but those who are unable to get the simplest necessities to make it through the next couple of weeks. ~Janna ER
[03/18/20] I want to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our members and volunteers who made this St. Patrick's Day a success, especially with it being carry out only. To everyone who helped shop, prep, cook, plan, box dinners, take orders and who ran the cash register, THANK YOU and I appreciate each and every one of you! You are what makes our lodge great! ~Janna ER
