Midwest Organic Hops is a full service hop processing, sales and marketing company with a focus on Certified Organic Hops. Located in Michigan.
We have learned that nothing is accomplished in isolation, that is why Midwest Organic Hops is committed to our Community of Growers and Brewing Partners to assure the best hops are used in the best beers. We provide hop processing and marketing services along with expertise to walk along side our community growers to assure the best possible hops for our brewing partners. Brewers can be assured that nothing but the best will leave our fields for their kettles. We are currently accepting hop contracts for the 2015 harvest.
It has been quite a while since we've posted any updates. As of yesterday, we have sold the last of our equipment and all of the remaining hop inventory that we had has been sold off as of a few weeks ago. This means we are no longer in the hop processing business.
Thanks to all of our customers and family and friends that assisted and supported us while we pursued our dream. We would not have made it this far without you!

Most plastic beer six‐pack rings end up in our oceans and pose a serious threat to wildlife. Together with We Believers, we ideated, designed, tested and prototyped the first ever Edible Six Pack Rings. A six‐pack packaging, made with byproducts of the beer making process, that instead of killing animals, feeds them. They are also 100% biodegradable and compostable. "Organic farming systems produce lower yields compared with conventional agriculture. However, they are more profitable and environmentally friendly, and deliver equally or more nutritious foods that contain less (or no) pesticide residues, compared with conventional farming." #breworganic
nature.com Organic agriculture has a history of being contentious and is considered by some as an inefficient approach to food production. Yet organic foods and beverages are a rapidly growing market segment in the global food industry.
"Organic beers and wines are expected to grow at a rate of 24.5% from 2013 to 2019. Organic craft beers have also witnessed a surge in popularity over the years. There has been a growth of around 20.7% in the sales of organic craft beer in volumes between December 2013 and December 2014.
Organic labels do not emphasize taste, but consumers are attracted by the quality of ingredients. USDA standards stipulate that at least 95% of the ingredients (usually barley and hops) in organic beer are grown without the use of chemicals and pesticides.
Although more expensive and time-consuming to produce, many breweries are expected to launch organic labels to carve out a niche for themselves in the extremely competitive beer market."

They are widely studied for their ability to halt bacterial growth and disease. Now, researchers report that they are close to synthesizing the healthful hops compounds in the lab, which could help scientists more easily create medicines from these compounds. The researchers present their work at the 251st National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society.
