Covenant Wines produces what Robert Parker calls, "the finest kosher wine on Planet Earth" in Berkeley, California.
Shared cultural heritage and a love of fine wine led to the partnership that gave birth to Covenant Winery. Our wines are sourced from some of the finest vineyards in Northern California - including Napa Valley, Sonoma Mountain, Dry Creek Valley and Lodi. Come visit us at our 7,000 square-foot winery that was a former warehouse across he bay from San Francisco. Inside you'll find the only urban kosher winery operating in America since Prohibition! In 2011, a trip to Israel by Covenant founders Jeff Morgan and Leslie Rudd sparked a desire to make wine in Israel. The wine regions of Israel so reminded us of our California vineyards. The call of Israel proved so strong, that we made our first vintage of Covenant Israel in 2013. Since then, the Covenant Israel project continues to be an amazing journey for us. Contact us to make your appointment for a private tasting.

It’s #KFWE Season! 🌴
There is so much to be proud of in the wine industry. The one that comes to our mind on this Giving Tuesday is the community and support system our industry has fostered over the last few decades. In honor of the people who work tirelessly to harvest and ensure the highest quality of our fruit - we will be donating to @farmworkerjustice. An organization advocating for migrant farm workers in California. To learn more about the incredible work these folks do, check out the link in our bio!

Punch Downs // Bennet Valley Syrah 🔜 2019 Landsman Syrah
We’ve been opening up a few of our 2013 wines (first pic Chardonnay Lavan 2013 and second pic Covenant Cabernet Sauvignon 2013). Both wines are showing beautifully and remind us of what a fantastic harvest 2013 was. We had excellent growing conditions with clean fruit and uniform ripening. Comment below with some of your favorite Covenant vintages! @ Napa Valley, CA
Syrah for the soul - harvested from Bennett Valley Moaveni Vineyard
Mahoney Cabernet has landed 🦅
From sunrise to sunset, our team is bringing in grapes from the vineyards during harvest.
These Roussanne grapes come from Larry Mettler’s vineyard in Lodi and will be used in our Mensch wine.
They’re sweet and tangy right off the vine - and they’ll make a well balanced wine after 6 months in the barrel.
Making wine isn’t only about what goes it - it’s also about what *doesn’t* go in.
Here is our destemmer in action - letting only the grapes through to become our next Landsman Pinot Noir.
Covenant’s RED C line includes a Sauvignon Blanc, a Proprietary Red, and a Rosé.
Which do you think we should we pour today at our Sunday open tasting hours?
Come by between 1-5pm in Berkeley to see which one (or more?) will be selected!
Covenant’s flagship Cabernet Sauvignon and Solomon Lot 70 hang out alongside our Chardonnay Lavan. It’s a great trio to accompany your Friday night dinner or holiday meal, from appetizers through your main course.
If you’re planning your upcoming special dinners please let us know what you’re pairing with these or other Covenant wines!
Happening today: turning red grapes into rose wine! #grenache #vintage2019 #harvest2019
Autumn is approaching. What are you drinking as the seasons change?
Perhaps a full bodied wine that warms you up to the slight chill in the air, with a strong fruit profile that lets you hold onto that last bit of summer?
Sounds like our 2017 Field Blend. The grapes come from Richard Mounts Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley, where the combination of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Grenache were planted side by side. Together these varietals produce a rich, smooth wine with plenty of spice.
We will be pouring this and three other Covenant wines at our Sunday open tasting hours today from 1-5pm. Join us as we make our way into autumn.
Thank you for the kind words! Merci!
Who makes the best Syrah in the world?
Read this blog post by winemaker @jeffmorganlot70 to find out more.
Then come by today from 1-5pm for our open tasting hours. We will be pouring a Syrah from @covenantisraelwines side by side with one from @covenantwines. Let us know what you think - in person or below in the comments!
Happy International Cabernet Sauvignon Day!

At Covenant our winemaking area is usually closed on weekends. Harvest season means that you may get a chance to see winemaking in action - plus barrels like these - during our open tasting hours, Sundays from 1-5pm.

This meal not only goes well with our wine, but features it in the ingredients!
Our 2017 Mensch Roussanne was used in the spinach dish - shown here below the @beyondmeat sausages. In addition, it made an appearance in the potato salad based on a wonderful recipe from @inagarten. Swipe right for the ingredients so you can make it at home. It’s a wonderful recipe for a summertime meal, and even better when accompanied by a glass of the same wine.
Our 2017 Solomon Lot 70 magnums getting the TLC they deserve @ Covenant Wines

Happy Fourth of July!!
We are very proud of our sister winery, Covenant Israel, in scoring 90 points from Robert Parker Wine Advocate.
"The 2016 Syrah (there is also 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) was aged for 18 months in 40% new French oak and comes in at 14.7% alcohol. Big, dense, jammy and rather powerful (although not particularly astringent), this is a wine that tends to go for the blockbuster impression....it also has many virtues, including the structure to age and the concentration to hold up to anything. Let's start here and give it more time to acquire some complexity and focus and to shed the baby fat." - Mark Squires

@covenantisraelwines wins at Aspen Food & Wine! Kudos to Josh Wesson, who entered Covenant Israel BLUE C Viognier in the Cheese and Sake/Beer/Wine Battle. (Our Viognier won!!!)
