A Night in Colombia - Chefs for Clefts's fundraising page for Massachusetts General Hospital

via Gordon Wilcox from Dr Austen
Dear Friend,
Under normal circumstances, we would soon be convening for the 6th annual Chefs for Clefts event. Regrettably, the COVID-19 pandemic has postponed these plans and deeply affected each of us personally in many ways. Amidst this unprecedented time in history, I wanted to let you know how disappointed we are that we cannot be together. This is one of the most important events of the year for our team.
We are also acutely aware how hard restaurants and restaurant workers were hurt by this pandemic. Gordon Wilcox and the Tip Tap Room have been such an important part of our efforts over the years—our thoughts are with them during this trying time. They have organized this event, provided volunteers, and gathered donations, and without them, these great events would not happen.
Year after year, the funding from Chefs for Clefts has supported our work in Cartagena, where our team of nurses and physicians provide free medical care to children born with congenital deformities. We are unlikely to travel this winter, but medical care for these patients remains critical, and we intend to organize a mission to Colombia as soon as possible.
In fact, the needs of this population will be even greater than ever due to the deferred care and lack of access for these patients. Your support over the years has been critical for these patients, and many of you have asked how you can continue to help. We would certainly appreciate any support that you could provide as we continue to plan and strategize our future missions to Colombia.
If you would like to contribute, please send a check payable to Massachusetts General Hospital, with a note that it is for the Cartagena Surgical Mission, to Lily Guttentag in the Mass General Development Office at 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114. You can also give online at because.massgeneral.org/chefsforclefts and specify in the designation box that your gift is to support the Cartagena Surgical Mission.
I look forward to sharing our progress with you, in-person, at the event next year.
With thanks and best wishes,
