Pvt. Henry Mann died on November 16, 1918 from wounds suffered during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. In 1940, the Lawrence City Council voted to remember Mann by dedicating the short bridge on Parker St over the South Canal as the Henry M Mann Bridge. With no marker on the bridge, most people are unaware that this bridge was dedicated to Mann almost 80 years ago. This last segment for the Project was narrated by Gov. Charlie Baker
At approximately 11:30 a.m. yesterday, a caller reported that the World War Two Memorial at Castle Island had been vandalized. Troopers responded and discovered a substance – believed to be some type of oil – splashed or poured onto the granite memorial, which is located at the beginning of the causeway heading out to Castle Island.
Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police is investigating. The exact time of the vandalism remains part of the ongoing investigation. The state Department of Conservation and Recreation, which oversees Castle Island, was notified and responded in an attempt to clean the memorial. Thus far, because of the nature of the substance thrown on the memorial, clean up has proven difficult.
Anyone with information about who may be responsible is urged to call State Police-South Boston at 617-740-7710.
Happy St. Paddy’s :)

Commandant's Birthday Message
As the 243rd Marine Corps birthday draws near, Gen. Robert Neller reminds us how the Corps' legacy lives on in every Marine.
We are devastated by the loss of our Mayor and friend, Brent Taylor. Our hearts and thoughts go to Jennie, their children, and other family members as they deal with this tragic loss. We love them and hope they will feel the love and support of all of us in North Ogden.
Brent had a profound influence on this community. He was the best of men with the ability to see potential and possibility in everything around him. We feel blessed to have had him as our mayor. Everywhere you look in North Ogden you can see his profound influence. He had a great love and vision for this community. He was patriotic to the core and a shining example of what an American politician should be. We are grateful for his service to both our city and our country. His loss will be felt for years to come.
[10/31/18] Happy Halloween!
Sgt. Maj. John Canley embodies the fighting spirit of all Marines. Today he was recognized with our Nation's most prestigious military decoration, the Medal of Honor. Semper Fi, Marine.
