Remembering Mother Blues Of Dallas Texas

From '71 to '83 this was one of the hottest clubs in Dallas Texas.

This was the place to be in Dallas between 71 and 83. Owner was Bill Simonson andwith his creative mind he came up with a way that his club would be one of the most famous clubs around. you never knew who would stop by. When famous bands were in concert in Dallas or Ft Worth you can bet the guys in the bands came to Mother Blues to hang out a few days. Folks like: Thin Lizzy, Led Zepplin David Bowie, Jeff Beck, Mick Jagger, The Runaways, Stephen Stills, Lightening Hopkins, Freddie King, GateMouth Brown, Ray Wylie Hubbard, John Nitzinger, Bugs Henderson,Point Blank, ACDC,

A night club, with bands Wed- Sun. $2.00 cover on Friday and Saturday 5 bar area's. with an outdoor beer garden to get away from the noise and the smoke. hot waitrreses, and handsome bartenders. er an one pretty one. lol Bouncers galore. No dress code but shoes are needed.

[12/25/18]   I would like to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas! I wish for you good health, happiness, and lots of love. And hope you didn't spend it alone. Cheers 🥂to all the Mother Blues Family. God bless 🙏✌️❤️💋

When Dallas Rocked

Bugs Henderson once said that if the House of Blues in Dallas had any sense at all, they would have built a statue of Freddy King out front. It is still almost unbelievable to me that those of us around Big D in the 60s and 70s got to see Freddy almost all of the time. He was always dropping by Mother Blues, or other clubs, to catch the hottest band, and he was performing at concerts and larger venues regularly. Here is a GREAT shot of Freddy King with Peter Frampton, backstage at Dallas Memorial Auditorium. That's Buddy mag's own Ben Ferguson seated while the two artists meet up. Ron McKeown took this Pulitzer-worthy photo. We had no idea how good we had it back then, because we thought it would last forever.

[05/24/15]   Have over 1000 likes on this page now. Thank you for liking a part of Dallas history. Where some of the best local bands to ever perform on this stage along with members of bands who were Blues and Rock n Roll royalty. We had some of the best bartenders and waitresses and bouncers here. And most of us were and still are family. Just because we aren't blood relatives don't mean we aren't family. I love you all!
Thank you! ❤️

[11/09/14]   If you were a patron of Mother Blues from 71 to 81 please tell us your experience you had.
