We are blessed to care for the BEST Grandparents! Their wisdom and love are eminent beyond compare.
We hope they have a very happy Grandparent’s Day! ❤️
We have such great weather! Residents spent time outdoors just enjoying the day. Some like Ms. Diana, helped to place plants throughout the area.
There is just something healing about digging into rich soil to provide nourishment for what is planted. Sort of like when residents reach therapy goals or experience full quality of life.
Today, we honor sacrifice, bravery & freedom.
Today, we honor sacrifice, bravery & freedom.
Well done, Ms. Scesclie! This is a great example of what can be accomplished through hard work and dedication to therapy goals. We are proud of our tremendous therapy team that focuses on using the equipment and new technologies at their disposal to aid residents in gaining improvement in their quality of life. Teamwork. Compassion. These two words are the framework that makes this type of success possible.
Again leading up to Environmental Services week, we continue to recognize members of their team. Coco has worked at RKP in housekeeping for about 2 1/2 years. She is the second in command of the squad and is known for her desire to do things right the first time, her team spirit, and her ability to get projects completed. When asked what she likes about her job, Coco responded that she loves to clean. We are fortunate that she chose to on our team.
Meet Ms. Minney. She has worked tirelessly in our dietary department for 20 years. She has spent those years lovingly creating foods for the residents and tending to the harts and minds of our staff. Ms. Minney is not only generous with her smile and kind attitude, she is a master at baking cakes and cornbread. Everyone loves the cornbread! It is with sincere gratitude that we thank Ms. Minney for devoting her life's work to the residents and staff at RKP. You rock, ma'am!
Congratulations Rodney! His hard work in rehab has definitely paid off. Rodney doesn't just maintain a dedication and focus to his rehab. Before COVID changed things, Rodney was the leader of the morning exercise group encouraging the residents to enjoy exercise because it helped to build strong minds as well as strength in their bodies. This attitude has helped him so that he is able to take a stroll around the facility. We see you, Rodney!
Residents at RKP are serious about carrying out their civic duty to vote in the upcoming election. Our activity director visited with residents to help them complete their voter registration. Some have been voting for more than 50 years. We stand by them in their effort to continue to exercise their right to be actively engaged in their community.
Welcome to our new ADON! Shirley comes to us with many years of experience serving the geriatric population. She started her career as a CNA. Since then she earned her nursing license and worked her way up to a leadership role. Shirley is passionate about her work believing she is a voice for those that do not have one.
When she is not working, Shirley spends time cooking and sharing meal time with her kids. Shirley is the warrior queen of education and documentation. We are fortunate she chose to bring her skills to the RKP team.
*Disclaimer- please note this picture was not taken during work.
#tbt - It’s a throwback to the Texas State Fair last year. Some of our residents went out to enjoy the food and games. Our driver, David, was by their side as usual.
Let me introduce you to one of our dedicated heroes. This is Antoineta . She has worked tirelessly in our laundry department for nearly eight years. Antoineta goes the extra mile in ensuring that our residents have clean linen, towels and clothes. In her heart, she believes that excellence in doing her job makes a difference in the care of our residents. This attitude is what makes Antoineta so special. When she is not at work, she loves spending time with her beloved grandkids.
Regarding upcoming changes to our visitation at our facility, please read...

HHSC has issued nursing facility COVID-19 Phase 1 Visitation Emergency Rules. These rules describe the requirements related to limited outdoor visitation in a nursing facility.
Read the NF COVID-19 Phase 1 Visitation Emergency Rules here:
Please note that each facility will analyze their ability to open limited visitation. Once a plan has been formulated, the facility will communicate with family members to navigate the process following HHSC rules.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding to keep our resident’s as safe as we possibly can during these unprecedented times.
We want to give thanks to Tocarra for her hard work as Director of Rehab. We have valued her dedication to our residents whom she stood up for and challenged to grow as well as her passion for ensuring that all residents at RKP received the very best care possible. Her sunny smile and infectious laughter will be missed. We send her best wishes in her future endeavors.
You are one of the best!
Everyone please join us in welcoming Franchesca Cain to the RKP team! Franchesca has been named our new Administrator to replace David Roberts as he transitions to another facility within the AHS family. She has numerous years of experience within the industry backed by an incredible career in the administrative side of education including presiding as Principal over a busy school. Franchesca is not afraid of hard work placing a focus on success. The needs of her residents are always at the top of her list. Experienced leadership. Compassionate care.
These are the qualities that make Franchesca an AWESOME addition to the team.
Welcome to RKP!
#Throwback Thursday BC (Before COVID)!
We had a fine time celebrating Mardi Gras with lots of music, food and dancing. Some of our leadership team joined in the fun and hit the floor to show off their dance moves. The residents had such a great time. It's nice to remember and reflect upon all the laugher and fun shared by our family here at KP.
Our residents have asked for more colorful masks and some specialty masks.
To meet this request, our Activities Director learned how to sew on a machine to get some completed. She is expanding her pattern working towards getting more advanced in her efforts. We are lucky to have someone who is truly committed to supporting and uplifting our residents during this unique time.
#tbt – Here is a throwback to when we first started wearing masks. We were practicing how to incorporate social distancing into the workplace, distributing masks (which were cloth at that time) and having a discussion on the new protocols required for delivery of care. It was a sobering meeting. Now months later, we are still practicing what we learned which was incorporated into more stringent protocols including tighter standards for masks.
Some say diamonds are a girl’s best friend. In this case, flowers are a girl’s best friend. The thoughtful gift came from an old friend of Mrs. Landry’s who wanted to send her a bit of cheer. Looks like it worked!
There is just something about eating birthday cake that makes the day seem brighter. We surprised Mr. Thompson with his own cake for his birthday. When he saw this picture, he remarked that he looked real happy and that it was a good day. It was a great day for us too, as we had the privilege of sharing his bornday.
It's been a great week for celebrating birthdays. This birthday party included flowers, snacks, and two special bunnies that have been present for all of the recent milestones in Iresha's life.
Meet one of RKP’s treasures. Before he came to us, Mr. Polk spent 25 years in the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer where he used his journalistic skills tow rite speeches for the Admirals. While in the military, he served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. When he retired from the service, he didn’t slow down. Mr. Polk worked as a crime beat reporter for the San Diego Union Tribune where he also had the chance to act as a stand-in weekend news television reporter. We are pleased to have helped him and his family celebrate his 88th birthday with a ‘drive-by” birthday party. It is really a honor to now serve Mr. Polk as he has spent a lifetime serving others in one way or another.
A lot has changed. What hasn’t changed is the need for exercise, to not only strengthen the body, but to also engage and strengthen the mind. Here in our gm, our residents can do both. Our team is staffed to complete physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. If they were given a wrestling name, it would have to be TRIPLE T.
#tbt (throwback Thursday) – Reminiscing about a time when things were different. One thing that remains is the integration of activities to stimulate, empower and challenge residents. Use of iN2L is one way we do it. We are lucky to offer this as a service to residents. Want to know more about it? Feel free to give us a call. We love talking about our services.
We want to welcome our new Director of Social Services to RKP. Her name is Abriana (Bri) Terrell. Bri is an LMSW, who brings her organizational skills and friendly personality to our facility. Bri has a natural ability to build relationships that she is already put into play. When not at work, Bri enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Welcome to the RKP team, Bri!
When we take time to recognize deserving staff, we often overlook the backbone of our nursing team. Today, we are going to correct that. BIG shout out to our two ADONs for their willingness to be the voice for those who might not be able to speak aloud their needs. They work tirelessly to support the leadership team, the nursing staff and our residents. They are here whenever they are needed. There is so much more that could be said but the most important thing that must be heard is, "WE APPRECIATE YOU!"
Ladies and Gentlemen! Please meet the one who is considered by all to be the goodwill ambassador of RKP. He always has a friendly word or a joke for all of the staff. He encourages the residents to laugh along with him. When he isn't stirring things up, he can be found watching his beloved soap opera, The Young and The Restless. He gets tickled by all of the drama on the show. We are grateful that he is with us and appreciate his ability to crack us up.
Caring. It's the special quality we add to our community. Caring for our residents. Caring for our staff. Caring about our community. This is what makes RKP different.
