Hi everyone. I have been working on an 85 year old Korean war Veterans home. After he had a stroke 5 years ago, his home fell into disrepair. This was an extreme hoarder home. So far, most everything has been covered by donations and volunteers. I'm going into week 3 & the volunteers have dwindled to a small handful. There is so much work still to be done. The home is located in Springtown. The immediate needs are someone to do the sheetrock work & painting, master bathroom & renovation. If you are able to volunteer your services, please pm me. If not, please consider any size monetary donation, so that I can get the materials and pay someone to help get this man's home completed! Please check out the event page to follow the progress. https://facebook.com/events/s/make-his-house-a-safe-home-aga/552376095624921/?ti=as If you would like to donate for this cause, I have a gofundme setup at gf.me/u/xmkwd4 Or there are other ways to monetarily donate listed on the event wall, that fees would not be taken from. Nbc5 covered the story last week, if you'd like to know more...... https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/parker-county-community-bands-together-to-help-85-year-old-army-veteran/2320771/ Thank you so much for taking the time to read all of this. And thank you, in advance, for any and all help with this!

VFW Post 8235 Fort Worth

Help America's veterans by making a generous donation to the VFW 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8235 has been an All-State Post for the last three consecutive years! The All-State designation is reserved only for those VFW Posts who have completed a multitude of VFW mission projects, such as community service activities, Veterans service, youth programs, support of military personnel/ families, support of homeless Veterans and honoring the past sacrifices of our country's Veterans in time of war.
Our Post participates in the Veterans in the Classroom Program and provides direct support to Veterans through the Military Assistance Program, the Homeless Veterans Program, and by participating in the Meals on Wheels Program weekly. The Post assists Veterans in need by providing food, Veterans Administration assistance, financial counseling, and benefits coordination. Post 8235 also assists disabled Veterans and surviving spouses by providing transportation to hospital appointments, grocery stores, and assistance to obtain home improvements. Additionally, Post members visit Veterans in hospice and remind them they are not forgotten.

🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Funding is needed to extend and make improvements to our Post building. We seek to build a state-of-the-art and technologically equipped facility. We have new ideas from our younger Veteran members to help modernize VFW Post 8235 and bring it into the 21st century. All of this will make us a better and more effective Veterans Service Organization. This will be done concurrently with our on-going support and service to the Veteran community. We need your support! Help us serve those who have sacrificed so much for us all.
Because VFW Post 8235 is an IRS 501(c)(19) veteran organization, your donation is tax-deductible. There are no administrative fees and 100% of your tax-deductible donation will be immediately directed to the VFW Post and programs where your support is most urgently needed.
Donating is easy! Simply visit our website at www.vfwpost8235.net then click on “More” then “Donations”.

You can also donate directly at the Post or mail in your donation to:

In every conflict in which our Nation has been involved, selfless American service members have sacrificed their lives for the sake of our country and its principles. Too many have never come home, or they have had to endure unthinkable hardships as a prisoner of war. We at VFW Post 8235 echo the creed inscribed on the black and white banners that fly in honor of America's Prisoners of War and Missing in Action, and we renew our promise to our heroes, that "You Are Not Forgotten."

Looking good, almost done it looks like

[09/07/20]   To understand a Military Veteran you must know:
We left home as teenagers or in our early twenties for an unknown adventure.
We loved our country enough to defend it and protect it with our own lives.
We said goodbye to friends and family and everything we knew.
We learned the basics and then we scattered in the wind to the far corners of the Earth.
We found new friends and new family.
We became brothers and sisters regardless of color, race or creed.
We had plenty of good times, and plenty of bad times.
We didn’t get enough sleep.
We smoked and drank too much.
We picked up both good and bad habits.
We worked hard and played harder.
We didn’t earn a great wage.
We experienced the happiness of mail call and the sadness of missing important events.
We didn’t know when, or even if, we were ever going to see home again.
We grew up fast, and yet somehow, we never grew up at all.
We fought for our freedom, as well as the freedom of others.
Some of us saw actual combat, and some of us didn’t.
Some of us saw the world, and some of us didn’t.
Some of us dealt with physical warfare, most of us dealt with psychological warfare.
We have seen and experienced and dealt with things that we can’t fully describe or explain, as not all of our sacrifices were physical.
We participated in time honored ceremonies and rituals with each other, strengthening our bonds and camaraderie.
We counted on each other to get our job done and sometimes to survive it at all.
We have dealt with victory and tragedy.
We have celebrated and mourned.
We lost a few along the way.
When our adventure was over, some of us went back home, some of us started somewhere new and some of us never came home at all.
We have told amazing and hilarious stories of our exploits and adventures.
We share an unspoken bond with each other, that most people don’t experience, and few will understand.
We speak highly of our own branch of service, and poke fun at the other branches.
We know however, that, if needed, we will be there for our brothers and sisters and stand together as one, in a heartbeat.
Being a Veteran is something that had to be earned, and it can never be taken away.
It has no monetary value, but at the same time it is a priceless gift.
People see a Veteran and they thank them for their service.
When we see each other, we give that little upwards head nod, or a slight smile, knowing that we have shared and experienced things that most people have not.
So, from myself to the rest of the veterans out there, I commend and thank you for all that you have done and sacrificed for your country.
Try to remember the good times and make peace with the bad times.
Share your stories.
But most importantly, stand tall and proud, for you have earned the right to be called a Veteran.
I’m a VETERAN!
If you are a Veteran, please copy, paste and share.

Our Post helped to introduce, locally, ways that people can live longer, better® through community transformation programs that lower healthcare costs, improve productivity, and boost national recognition as great places to live, work, and play. We are happy to have been part of a program that brought Fort Worth's Nationwide Well-Being Rating from 185th to 58th!
