Hopkins Wrestling Club

Building the foundation of Hopkins Vikings Wrestling.

Well another wrestling season has come to an end. The Hopkins Wrestling club sent 4 kids to MYWAY state this weekend. Asher Tuinstra lost out in the blood round, Not to bad for a 1st year wrestler, Luke Tuinstra finished 7th in a tough 155lb High School bracket, Genesis Tuinstra finished 5th in the all girls state at 106lbs, and Colton Kennedy finished 7th in the 2005, 95lb class. In addition to those that wrestle for our club we had 4 other wrestlers that wrestle at other clubs make it to state and a few placed. Hamilton Wrestling Club has been training Wyatt Runkel, he made it to state for his 1st time at 61lbs as just a 2 or 3 year wrestler, Luke and Logan Klinge have been training with the Barry County Grapplers, Luke continues to work hard and lost out in the blood round in overtime and Logan finished 4th after wrestling 7 matches to come back from a 1st round loss. Abraham and Nahum Krussel have been training at the Grand Rapids Wrestling Academy Abraham made it to state this year going 1-2 in tghe tournament and Nahum had a great two days of wrestling finishing 3rd in his final MYWAY tournament before heading into High School. Great job Hopkins Wrestlers, The future of Hopkins wrestling is bright.

Here is something to think about as you start setting your goals for 2019-20. Focus on what you can control and not what is out of your control.

The Middle School and High School seasons have officially come to an end. That does not mean that the wrestling season has come to an end. We have option to continue to get better and opportunities to compete. Jammie Klinge will be running a practice after school in the cafeteria starting 3/6/2019. If you can't make it to the first practice join him any day after school.

NCAA Wrestling

This is a great letter to wrestling from Mr. Cruz.

“What makes wrestling so unique is the fact that you walk into the circle with another warrior for seven minutes to see who the better warrior is. You shake hands out of respect and then you go to battle. That’s a lesson in life.”

Lehigh Wrestling's Darian Cruz writes a letter to the sport of wrestling.

If you are not putting in the time your competition is.
