This photo was taken by a friend driving past Geyserville last night, at the hills above the Todd Brothers Ranch, a vineyard we've been making wine from since 1998--our longest vineyard partner since we started Dashe Cellars. It's smack in the middle of the Kincaid fire, and I've been on the edge of my seat watching the ranch on the news, with huge air tankers dropping fire retardant all around the hills above the vineyard.
When I last talked with Ken Todd, he said the fire had jumped to the ridge east of the vineyard, and at that moment, his ranch seemed miraculously untouched--the fire remained to the east and the Todd Ranch was safe at the moment.
With the winds increasing tonight and blowing Southwest, I'm worried about what might happen, and all of us at Dashe Cellars want to send our best wishes to the entire Todd family. It feels like part of our own family in danger, and we hope and pray that the vineyard remains unscathed and that everyone stays safe.
