The Largest Commercial Sailing Catamaran on the Great Lakes

The Nauti-Cat was built in 1988 by custom fabricator William Hartzog in Houston, Texas. At 47' long, 29' wide, and almost 50 tons displacement the Nauti-Cat handled most of the Gulf's weather with its Simpson & Wild design. With a maximum capacity of 46 there's more than enough room to walk around and go down below decks as well. You can see the Nauti-Cat from a distance, having almost 1,000 square feet of sail propelling the ship. Being a catamaran, the ship slices through the water with great stability and with a soothing motion. In 1998, the Nauti-Cat was re-outfitted with all new gear including a 63' mast, boom, winches, halyards, sails, and 2 new engines. It also made its debut in Traverse City. On board you will also find 2 "heads." (That's bathrooms for you land lubbers!) The Nauti-Cat now sails West Grand Traverse Bay in Traverse City Michigan 4 times a day, 7 days a week. -Kids Cruise $15 -Noon Cruise $30 -Happy Hour $35 -Champagne Sunset Cruise $40 The Nauti-Cat meets or surpasses United States Coast Guard qualifications for safety equipment, stability, construction, and electronics. The USCG license captain and experience crew will make sure you are always safe. The Nauti-Cat staff are: • CPR trained • First Aid trained • Preliminary & random drug tested

Kids cruise every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday! Got all the helpers this morning.

Soak them while you can.

Everyone please take steps to be safe on the water.

We have had 64 drownings in the Great Lakes region since January 1st. We share this tragic statistic to bring awareness to the potential dangers of the lakes. Cold water, rip currents, boating under the influence, boating without a lifejacket, not filing a float plan with someone on shore, not having signaling devices/EPIRBs/VHF radio are all contributing factors in these deaths.

On Monday morning a 57-year-old woman was rescued after spending more than 14 hours in the water after falling off her jet ski the night before. She likely survived because she was wearing a lifejacket.

Friday morning, two men were rescued from their capsized boat. They were stranded for nearly 16 hours. Luckily, they were both wearing lifejackets and had a flashlight to signal to the helicopter crew.

We need to be aware of the danger and then know what we can do to prevent or lessen it. Know the conditions of the lake. Know the water temperature. Know the weather. And when you learn, share that knowledge with others! We can all contribute in saving lives by spreading information. One person might decide to wear their life jacket this weekend all because you shared a post!
